Additionally, she serves as a New York County Judicial Delegate and Democratic Committee member, roles that ensure our judiciary and local politics reflect community needs.Her commitment to service extends beyond politics—she’s also a former Community Board 8 member and previously co-chaired the Tikkun Olam ("social justice") Committee at Park Avenue Synagogue, where she worked to support our most vulnerable neighbors and ensure the community’s voice would be heard. Vanessa’s academic credentials include degrees from University of Chicago and Harvard. Vanessa lives on the Upper East Side with her husband, Reid, and their two children.

Vanessa Aronson, who came in second in a tight CD 4 primary in June and is former president of the Lexington Dem Club, has announced that she’s running for Alex Bores’s Assembly seat next year. Heavily armed with a roster of endorsements from local and statewide Democratic leadership, Aronson will be participating in the state’s matching funds program.

New York is in the middle of a housing crisis. Rising rents, increasing operating costs, and the loss of rent-stabilized units are making it harder for families to stay in their homes.At the state level, I will prioritize protecting existing affordable housing while also increasing supply. That means supporting investments to stabilize rent-stabilized and affordable buildings that are at risk, and ensuring those homes remain available to the tenants who depend on them.The State must play a direct role in creating and sustaining housing that is truly affordable. I will support expanding mixed-income housing development and ensuring that affordability standards reflect real local income levels, so that “affordable” housing is actually accessible to the people it is meant to serve.

At the state level, Vanessa will prioritize protecting existing affordable housing while also increasing supply. That means supporting investments to stabilize rent-stabilized and affordable buildings that are at risk, and ensuring those homes remain available to the tenants who depend on them.

Vanessa Aronson is a shoo-in to fill Alex Bores’ Assembly seat on the east side of Manhattan. That isn’t&nbsp; a political analysis of a crowded field, but the facts – Aronson is the only Democrat running who has filed petitions for the open seat.&nbsp;This means there won’t be a primary, and Aronson will be the Democratic party’s nominee on the ballot in November in a district President Donald Trump lost by 53 points.

I will support investments in infrastructure that make our streets safer and more navigable for everyone, including seniors, people with disabilities, and families with strollers.

New York must be a place where LGBTQ+ individuals are not just protected, but empowered to live and thrive. That means standing firm against discrimination, investing in safety and opportunity, and ensuring that the protections under the NYS constitution are enforced with integrity and accountability.&nbsp;As your Assemblymember, I will fight to enforce the New York State Equal Rights Amendment, which makes it unconstitutional to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. I will champion LGBTQ+-inclusive curricula in public schools to foster safe, affirming environments for all students. I will also push the state to invest in supportive housing and shelter programs specifically designed to meet the needs of homeless LGBTQ+ individuals with safety and dignity.With federal attacks on LGBTQ+ rights escalating, including the targeting of trans healthcare and anti-discrimination programs, we must protect and expand state funding streams for critical services. I will work to shield LGBTQ+ programs, shelters, healthcare services, and educational initiatives from budget cuts and ensure they remain fully funded and fully staffed.
